The Indian government is finalizing the announcement of the winning bidder for 10,000 GPUs under the IndiaAI Mission, with a portal almost ready to provide startups and researchers affordable access. Ten companies, including Jio Platforms and Yotta Data Services, bid for the project, which allocates 44% of its ₹10,371.92 crore budget to GPU compute capacity over five years. Despite DeepSeek’s efficient open-source R1 model reducing reliance on massive GPU access, the initiative aims to boost AI innovation by ensuring flexible and inclusive infrastructure for all players.
