Oumi, launched today, is backed by a consortium of 13 top research institutions, including Princeton, Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley, Oxford, Cambridge, Waterloo, and Carnegie Mellon. The platform’s founders raised $10 million in seed funding, which they say is more than enough to get started. While giants like OpenAI are considering multi-billion-dollar investments in massive data centers, such as their Stargate project, Oumi is opting for a radically different path. The platform offers a comprehensive suite of tools that enables researchers and developers to build, test, and deploy foundation models with ease.
